We have now firmed up on a date and time for the presentation of the Kelly Tarlton Award to the family of the late Noel Hilliam, the first recipient of this award. This will be held on Sunday 17th December at the Dargaville Museum, commencing at 2 pm sharp and all members and friends of Noel's who can to attend are most welcome.
Commence 2.00 pm sharp. The media will also be invited.
Presentation speeches, photographs, about 1 hour max, followed by coffee, tea, a few drinks. Conclude around 4.00 pm.

The following is an excerpt from the last Bulletin:

The Kelly Tarlton Award initial award was announced at the AGM and the following message was emailed by our President George Bellew:-
Yesterday afternoon I telephoned Julie Hilliam to tell her that Noel had been awarded the KT Award due to his huge contribution to the understanding of our Underwater Heritage.  She was obviously somewhat overwhelmed by the news as best illustrated by her comment "somebody has recognised him at last".  Humbling to be the carrier of such news.
Leading up to the announcement we had speakers John Pettit and Dave Moran talking about working with Kelly, all spoke from the heart and it was quite an emotional delvery.  In fact when Rosanne Hawarden later spoke about the creation of the Award and its purpose she
was moved to tears.
It is now proposed to work with Noel's family and the Tarlton's to agree a convenient date, ideally pre Xmas to present the family with the Trophy.  Our plan is to hold this at the Dargaville Museum which Noel donated many hours of his time to establish  Hopefully a number of NZUHG members will be able to attend and media representatives will be invited.
